Nainital

A forest-rimmed lake, colonial-era schools, and viewpoints over Kumaon peaks define this compact mountain town.

March–June and September–November are busiest; monsoon can swell the lake but complicates road access. Jim Corbett National Park lies a few hours south for wildlife extensions. Book parking-aware hotels—old town streets are tight. Nearby Sattal and Bhimtal offer quieter lakes if Nainital feels crowded. Layer clothing; evenings cool quickly at 2,000 metres.
